Paul Skenes: My Theory on the Pirates' All-Star Pitcher

Today we are going to talk about the one and only, Paul Skenes! This guy throws really fast. Seriously, have you seen him pitch? He averages 100.1 mph, the highest of any Pirates starter in the pitch-tracking era (since 2008). He looks like he could launch a baseball into outer space! This is the cool part though. Apparently, Skenes gets ready for games just like a quarterback does in the NFL. Check out his QB toss (look out Tom Brady!):

This is what amazed me: Skenes studies hitters like a QB studies plays. He watches videos, learns their weaknesses, and figures out the best strategy to strike the hitters out. Maybe Skenes played quarterback before baseball? Maybe that's where he gets his crazy focus and his fireball throws! Anyway, that's my take on him. Super cool pitcher with a quarterback's brain. Who knows, maybe someday we'll see QBs training like pitchers, that would be great.
